Aboard the Bus
1. RESPECT YOUR DRIVERS
2. ACCESS
All person shall:
- Wait for the bus to completely stop and open its door BEFORE boarding/getting off a SPTC bus.
- Get on and off the bus in an orderly manner
- Be fully clothed while travelling on any SPTC bus
- Acknowledge priority seating areas for the elderly, disabled, pregnant ladies, and mothers with small children.
- Sit one in an individual seat where applicable and move over to keep room for others.
3. NO OVERSIZED LUGGAGE
- Oversized luggage obstruct the passageway, occupy a lot of space and can provoke accidents.
- It is advisable that alternative means of transport are used in these circumstances.
4. FISH/MEAT
Fish and meat should be properly wrapped.
5. ANIMALS
No person may bring any animal on any bus
6. PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT
No person shall:
- Destroy, mark or tamper with any advertisement, notice or other SPTC property
- Passengers will be held responsible and accountable for any damage they do to the bus and/or associated facilities.
- Commuters should also use SPTC’s communication channels to report unsatisfactory service.
7. PAYMENT OF FARES
All person shall:
- Ensure that they have the right change for their tickets. SPTC reserves the right not to accept SCR 100 and SCR 500 notes.
- Travel on the bus with a valid ticket and card at all times
- Keep tickets safe throughout the trip until disembarking
- Place underage kids on lap if he/she does not have a ticket
- Ensure that the ticket issued corresponds with the amount paid
8. CONDUCT
No person on a bus shall:
- Litter, dump garbage or liquid
- Smoke
- Create any disturbance (loud music) through the use of any sound production device. Use of devices listened to solely by headphones or earphones and inaudible to others are permitted
- Bring or carry hazardous chemicals, such as fuel and gas cylinders.
- Consume any food or liquid or possess any opened or unsealed container of soft drink or alcoholic beverage
- Conduct himself/herself in any manner which may annoy or cause inconvenience to a person or create a breach of the peace.
- Use low tone and appropriate language while travelling on the bus (no yelling/screaming/swearing).
- ENSURE THAT NO PART OF THE BODY IS OUTSIDE THE BUS AT ALL TIMES
At the Terminal
1. PASSENGERS ARE:
- Required to use appropriate language
- Asked to refrain from operating any radios, tape recorders, musical instruments or similar devices unless headphones are used and adjusted so as not to disturb other passengers.
- Urged to use litter bins placed at the terminal and to avoid dumping garbage and liquids on the seats and on the platform.
- Reminded that it is an offence to smoke at the terminal
- Reminded that they should wait for the bus to stop and open its door before boarding/getting off
- Required to queue properly on platforms where there are two or more destinations
- Asked to use zebra crossings to facilitate movement across the terminal
2. STUDENT FARE
- All student are reminded that they pay SCR 2.00 only during school term at specific time.
- During school holidays all students should pay SCR 10.00 bus fare with a card
- Asked to use zebra crossings to facilitate movement across the terminal
3. WEAPONS AND OTHER DANGEROUS INSTRUMENTS
- No weapon, dangerous instruments or any other item intended for use as a weapon may be carried in the bus.
- Tools should be wrapped or enclosed in protective covering.
- No person shall carry any item that is so long as to extend outside the window or door of a bus constitute a danger or hazard to other persons.
